Dear Parents,
I am excited to announce that Pleasantville Country Club will once again be participating in the PGA Jr. League this Spring, and I am looking forward to another outstanding season with our junior golfers.
PGA Jr. League is one of the best programs available for developing young golfers. The format introduces players to the game in a fun, team-oriented environment while helping them build a strong foundation in rules, etiquette, sportsmanship, competition, and teamwork. Just as importantly, the program allows families to be part of the experience by coming out to matches and supporting their players along the way.
Our team will once again have the opportunity to compete against other local clubs and play several outstanding courses in the area, including Sleepy Hollow Country Club, Scarsdale Country Club, Ardsley Country Club, Westchester Hills Golf Club, and Knollwood Country Club. These matches give our juniors a great chance to experience different courses while representing Pleasantville CC.
The program is open to:
Boys and girls ages 10–13
Pleasantville Country Club members and non-members
Players of all skill levels, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced golfers
Friends of members may also participate, provided they meet with me prior to the start of the season so I can ensure they are ready for the league format.
Practices will begin the second week of April and will typically take place once per week.
Most practice sessions are scheduled on weekends, though we may occasionally practice during the week depending on the club’s tournament schedule and course availability.
These practices will focus on:
On-course play and match strategy
Rules and etiquette
Team format preparation
Skill development in all areas of the game
Matches against other clubs are typically scheduled during the week after school, with occasional weekend matches depending on host club availability.
Most matches begin around 4:30 PM and last approximately two hours.
A complete practice and match schedule will be shared with parents by April 15th, or earlier if available.
